Colorfest 2022

If you love a good festival, Mentone's annual Colorfest is one to add to your list. Come enjoy the cool crisp temperatures and beautiful fall foliage as you explore various vendors, activities, and musicians.

Colorfest is an annual festival presented by the Mentone Area Preservation Association (MAPA). It features hand-made arts & crafts booths, live music, festival food, kids activities, a scarecrow contest, and a costume pet parade.

Above and below are views of a few vendors from the 2021 event held at Brow Park in Mentone. Colorfest 2022 is moving to a larger more spacious location at Moon Lake Village in Mentone.

The gourds were a hit! My nephews, who love all things lions, tigers, and bears, each got a gourd that made sounds like different animals and were painted beautifully. They LOVED them.

A family favorite was also checking out the creative scarecrows around the festival that were part of the scarecrow contest. Mary Poppins was our favorite, complete with the ducks with bow ties. Cinderella was a close second in our book.

This year they have moved the festivities to a new location. Colorfest 2022 will take place at the new Moon Lake Village in Mentone, AL. Moon Lake Village is the new home of the work of some of Mentone's creative and talented artists. Last year, the historic Moon Lake School was closed and consolidated with another nearby county school. The residents of Mentone didn't want to see this piece of history fall to the wayside so they set after finding a way to use it for the community. After a great deal of work and effort, It is now the new grounds for Mentone's many festivals and where you can find artists work on display and for sale throughout the year.

Colorfest Parking must be on-site and there is a $5 parking fee, but admission is free.
